Brad Wilson is an American photographer who is interested in the precision that creates beauty; the decisive moment of exactly when a photo is taken. Wilson looks for those perfect moments when mood, stillness, and composition align to make the ordinary extraordinary. The biggest obstacle for him is familiarity, because it hinders his ability to be fully engaged in a situation as to not miss those perfect moments. This animal series provides an unfamiliar territory for Wilson where he can be fully present and capture the beautiful decisive moment.
When working with the animals, Wilson recognized the difference between working with wild animals and working with humans. He could give directions to humans, and have more control over the artistic process, but the animals had no regard for his artistic agenda, and did whatever they pleased whenever they saw fit. What he discovered was a world of intuition and instinct, completely separate from the way humans think and live. These photos are a testament to that simpler way of life, and remind us that we coexist with a huge diversity of life.
