31.) Luigi Fieni

Luigi Fieni is an Italian painter and photographer. In his work, Fieni constantly tries to produce images that are as pictorial as possible by merging painting with photography. He mostly tries to convey emotions and his own personal view on things to create a visual narrative. His goal is not to capture an event, but to communicate the emotions that he felt during a precise moment.

Fieni’s photographs are colorful abstractions of real world events. He blurs his photos by using a slow shutter speed, and shaking, rotating, and zooming the camera as he presses the shutter. The blurred effect of his images distort the subject into various lines, shapes, and colors. Since the exact subject of the photo is unclear, the viewer must rely only on the grotesque imagery, and is able to draw out the emotional meaning of the image without the distraction of the subject.
